Clifford Thames co-operating on true environmental impact of passenger cars

Clifford Thames is working with Cardiff University to study the true environmental impact of passenger cars.

Richard Barber, Clifford Thames Strategy and Business Development Director said:
"The current focus on tail pipe emissions does not necessarily fully reflect a vehicle's true carbon
footprint"

He went on to say in more detail:
"We're working with the Centre for Automotive Industry Research (CAIR) at Cardiff University to
develop a better environmental rating indicator which can be simply expressed, rather like the NCAP safety rating system."

Clifford Thames and CAIR plan to present an updated analysis on how to better analyse the
environmental impact of passenger vehicles in mid-September.

Geoff Fletcher, the Clifford Thames Environmental Research Specialist added:
"While no rating system is perfect, we're hoping this collaborative effort will help to improve those
presently in place"
